Oslo, gateway to Norway.
Our family of four flew IcelandAir from Raleigh, NC to Keflavik airport in Reykjavik, Iceland for a stop over to change planes. From there we continued on Iceland Air to Gardermoen airport in Oslo, the capitol and largest city of Norway. When we arrived, we hopped on a commuter train to our hotel, Hotel Bondeheimen in the Oslo Sentrum (downtown). The train was quiet, clean and fast. The scenery flashing by our windows provided a quick introduction to the city. The map below shows the relationship of the Oslo train station to the Oslo Sentrum.
Catching the train was super convenient as the train station was just outside the door from baggage claim. The most difficult part was figuring how to purchase train tickets from the kiosk. Fortunately, a tourist information agent was standing by to lend assistance.
We stayed at Hotel Bondeheimen for one night and then on to Bergen.
Fortunately for us, signage is not only clearly marked, but is in English as well as Norwegian.
The girls at breakfast at Hotel Bondeheimen.
While the ate breakfast, I waited for the porter to take our luggage to our next city. After a quick bite, we checked out and walked to the train station to catch the 12:05 PM to Bergen.
A 15 minute walk from out hotel from us to the Oslo Sentralstasjon to take the Bergensbanen (Train to Bergen).
